VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO TCU, 3-1

Uitti (Pinckney, Mich.) tallied six kills, six digs, five
blocks, a team-high 18 assists and hit at a .364 clip, but it was
not enough as the University of New Hampshire volleyball team
dropped its opening-round match, 3-1, to Texas Christian University
at the UConn Classic on Friday night.
The set scores were 25-11, 20-25, 25-19, 25-8. The Wildcats are
now 0-4, while the Horned Frogs improve to 3-2. UNH will play the
host Huskies (12:30 p.m.) and Long Island (5 p.m.) on Saturday.
In addition to Uitti, Lauren Laquerre (Concord,
N.H.) had a team-high eight kills, while Taylor
Dressing (Gillette, N.J.) added six kills, six digs and
three blocks. Defensively Sara Heldman (Greenwood,
Ind.) had 13 digs.
In the first set of the day, TCU opened up a 7-1 lead out of the
gate and held a lead of five or more throughout the set and went on
for a convincing 14-point win. During the set, the Horned Frogs had
a team-high 13 kills and hit at a .241 clip. TCU stormed out of the
gate once again in the second set holding a lead of 6-1. TCU held a
10-5 lead before the Wildcats answered with 14-5 run to turn a
five-point deficit into a 19-15 lead. The Wildcats went on to win
the set by a five-point margin. UNH registered a match-high 15
kills and hit at a .225 clip. In the third set, the Horned Frogs
slowly built a 10-5 lead and held a lead of five or more throughout
the set moving on for the 25-19 win. TCU captured the match by
virtue of a convincing 25-8 win in the fourth set.
New Hampshire concludes play at the UConn Classic on Saturday with
the host Huskies (12:30 p.m.) and Long Island (5 p.m.). UNH returns
home on Sept. 18-19 when it plays host to the second-annual Holly
