Wildcat student-athletes each boast 4.00 cumulative grade point average
BOSTON – Buoyed by a 4.00 cumulative grade point average and terrific fall seasons, UNH cross country student-athletes Zachary Hooper (Concord, N.H.) and Ruth White (Orono, Maine) have each been named to the 2025 America East Cross Country All-Academic Team, the conference announced Thursday. The honor recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the course and in the classroom.
Hooper, now a two-time America East XC All-Academic Team member (2024), was UNH's top finisher in all five of his races this season. The senior neuroscience and behavior (NSB) major opened the year with a fifth-place finish at the Suffolk Short Course Classic (Aug. 30) and followed with a team-best 14th place at the Ted Owen Invitational (Sept. 20). The Concord, N.H. native continued to pace the Wildcats at major meets, including the New England Championships and America East Championships, where he placed 19th and 20th, respectively. Academically, Hooper boasts six semesters on the Dean's List and is a two-time inductee into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society. He has also earned multiple America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll distinctions across cross country and track & field seasons.
White, a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering, rattled off three consecutive victories to start the year, including wins at the Suffolk Short Course Classic (Aug. 30), Ted Owen Invitational (Sept. 20), and Paul Short Run (Oct. 3). She added a third-place finish at the New England Championships and was twice named America East Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week (Sept. 22, Oct. 26). Last track & field season, the Orono, Maine, native earned 2025 America East Outdoor Track Performer of the Year honors and claimed NCAA All-America Second Team recognition with a ninth-place finish in the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Championships. In the classroom, White has earned spots on the Dean's List and the America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
