WILDCATS CLIMB BACK TO NO. 1

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team climbed two positions to No. 1 in the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll, following three wins this past week. The Wildcats defeated the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, 6-0 on Tuesday, then swept Boston College, 5-2 on Saturday and 2-1 on Sunday. The Wildcats clinched their third Hockey East regular season with the win vs. the Eagles on Saturday night.

The Wildcats were ranked No. 1 in the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Poll for three weeks earlier this season from Jan. 28 to Feb. 11. New Hampshire collected nine first-place votes and 271 overall points to reclaim the No. 1 ranking.

UNH (25-6-3 overall, 17-4-3 Hockey East) returns to action this Friday, March 8 vs. the Merrimack College Warriors in the Hockey East quarterfinals. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Whittemore Center.
