Pickard Named MVP, Shattles and Grier Also Selected to Tiger Classic All-Tournament Team

New Hampshire swept the Tiger Classic, beating Furman 3-1 and host Clemson 3-0.
CLEMSON, S.C. — University of New Hampshire junior libero Hady Pickard (Roswell, Ga.) was named Most Valuable Player at the Tiger Classic Tournament, while seniors Rachel Grier (Dublin, Calif.) and Jessica Shattles (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) were also named to the All-Tournament Team, as announced following the conclusion of the tournament on Saturday (Sept. 19).
Pickard was instrumental to the Wildcats' success on defense, notching 16 digs in the team's four-set victory over Furman before posting a team-leading 21 digs in the win over Clemson, totaling 37 digs (5.29/set). Additionally, Pickard contributed two service aces and 11 assists.
Shattles had a career weekend, earning 45 assists in the win over Furman, including her 2,000th-career helper, before notching another 30 in the sweep over Clemson, totaling 75 assists (10.71/set). Alongside her assists, Shattles concluded the day with six kills, a service ace, 25 digs (3.57/set), and a block assist.
Grier had a strong tournament at the net front, finishing with two solo blocks and three block assists in the win against Clemson alongside a pair of block assists in the matchup with Furman. Additionally, while posting 16 kills and two service aces on offense, Grier finished with eight digs defensively.
