Getting to Know: Rachel Grier

Get to know sophomore middle blocker Rachel Grier of the UNH volleyball team.Â
Rachel is from Dublin, California and shared that her favorite part of her hometown is the St. Patrick's Day celebration that is held there every year.Â

Three fun facts about Rachel are that her first pet was a tortoise, she has met NLE Choppa and she has been to two movie premieres.Â
Rachel has two older siblings, Scotty and Sarah, her parents are Catheryn and Kevin and she has a six-year-old pitbull named Banner.Â
Â
Rachel said that her biggest inspiration is her papa.Â
"He's inspired me to do the things I love and not take myself too seriously, as he consistently fills conversation with dad jokes and silly sayings," Rachel said.Â

Rachel has been playing volleyball for eight years and opened up about where her passion for the sport comes from.Â
"My passion for volleyball comes from my connection with my team and my competitive nature," Rachel said.Â

Outside of volleyball, she enjoys hiking, golfing and reading in her hammock. One thing that Rachel said she could not live without would be caffeine.Â
Rachel shared that she hopes to work as a criminal defense lawyer one day.
"I believe that all people deserve a good advocate," Rachel said. Â

Rachel said that her favorite thing about UNH is both the campus and the community. She encourages incoming students to take advantage of the opportunities on campus and really embrace their time here.
"Go to sporting events and join clubs that interest you on campus," Rachel said.
