Cavanaugh Records 12 Points, 7 Rebounds at #22 Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Junior guard Maggie Cavanaugh (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) recorded 12 points and seven rebounds as the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team was defeated 94-43 by 22nd-ranked University of Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center on Sunday afternoon.
Cavanaugh, who led the Wildcats in both scoring and rebounding, finished with a season-high rebound total in 27 minutes.
Junior guard Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.) recorded seven points, four rebounds and a team-leading three assists in 23 minutes.
Tajiana Roberts and Skylar Jones led Louisville with 15 points apiece. Mackenly Randolph was the other Cardinals player in double figures with 11 points.
UNH moves to 3-7 overall and Louisville is 8-3.

FIRST QUARTER
- Louisville scored the first two baskets of the game but DeChent's jumper lifted the Wildcats within 4-2 at 8:31.
- DeChent made a pull-up jump shot in the paint to end the Cardinals' 15-0 run and make the score 19-4 at 4:38.
- The home team scored the last six points of the quarter to build a 25-4 lead through 10 minutes.
SECOND QUARTER
- Louisville opened the second quarter with a 10-0 spurt before UNH called time out and Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y.) hit a 3-pointer to advance the score to 35-7.
- Cavanaugh recorded her second field goal of the quarter when she made a 3-pointer with 22 seconds on the clock.
- The Cardinals took a 48-14 lead into halftime.
THIRD QUARTER
- Cavanaugh scored seven of UNH's 17 points in the third quarter on 2 of 4 shooting from the floor, including a 3-pointer, and making both free throw attempts.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Carolina Williams (Valatie, N.Y.) was the Wildcats' leading scorer in the fourth quarter with five points.
- Louisville outscored UNH 13-12 in the fourth quarter.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- The last time UNH faced a nationally-ranked team was almost three years ago to the day, when the Wildcats played No. 3 Ohio State on Dec. 8, 2022.
