INDIANAPOLIS – The University of New Hampshire field hockey team, led by Hall of Fame head coach Robin Balducci, will play at No. 3 seed Havard University in the first round of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship on Friday, Nov. 14 (12pm). The announcement was made during Sunday night's selection show.
UNH, which enters the NCAA tournament on a five-game win streak and 12-6 overall record, received an automatic berth by winning the America East championship game with a 1-0 double-overtime victory against the University of Vermont on Nov. 7.
"I was excited when I saw our name not come up in the opening round," Balducci said. "That was very exciting and staying nearby in Boston is the icing on the cake. In all my previous NCAAs, we've always had an opening round game so this is exciting for the program. This is what you set out to do. This is awesome."

This is UNH's 11th NCAA tournament appearance. The Wildcats played in the 1986 national championship game and their most recent trip to the NCAAs was in 2013; they also made the NCAAs in 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1998, 2000 and 2011.
Friday's first round game will be the first NCAA matchup between the UNH and Harvard field hockey programs. New Hampshire has a 23-16-2 edge in the lifetime series but have not met since the 2021 season.
