Ledden Matches Career-High 10 Points in Loss at Army West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Junior guard Katie Ledden (Clark, N.J.) matched her career high with a team-high 10 points but the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team was defeated by Army West Point, 63-44, at Christl Arena on Thursday afternoon.
Ledden made 4 of 5 field goal attempts, including 2-for-2 on 3-pointers. Junior guard Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.) recorded eight points and two steals while sophomore guard Elizabeth Lavoie (Hampstead, N.H.) scored seven points and matched her best of six rebounds. Junior guard Maggie Cavanaugh (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) finished with five points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Army was led by Kya Smith's double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds. Taylor Wilson (15 points), Camryn Tade (14) and Soleil Montrose (10) also scored in double digits.
UNH is now 2-4 and the Black Knights are 4-1.

FIRST QUARTER
- Smith scored the first seven points of the game to give the Black Knights a 7-0 lead at 7:48.
- DeChent and Camryn Fauria (North Attleborough, Mass.) both made a pair of free throws to lift the Wildcats within 7-4 at 6:52.
- Army edged ahead 11-4 before Ledden hit a 3-pointer from the right wing and DeChent made a layup to trim the deficit to 11-9 at 2:38.
- The teams exchanged baskets, capped by Ledden's layup with 50 seconds on the clock to end the quarter with Army leading 16-13.
SECOND QUARTER
- Lavoie's 3-pointer from the right wing pulled UNH within five points, 23-18, at 5:31.
- The Black Knights inched ahead 32-20 before Ledden connected again from behind the 3-point arc to close the margin to 32-23 at 2:22.
- Fauria made a foul line jumper in the closing seconds to send the teams into halftime with the home team holding a 35-25 advantage.
THIRD QUARTER
- Fauria opened the third-quarter scoring with a layup but Army went on a 7-0 run to build a 42-27 lead.
- Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y.) stopped the spurt with a 3-pointer at 5:43.
- The Black Knights closed the quarter on a 9-4 run to hold a 51-34 lead through 30 minutes.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Cavanaugh opened the scoring with a 3-ball from the left wing to trim the deficit to 14 points, 51-37, at 9:04 but the Wildcats did not score again until Lavoie sunk a pair of foul shots to advance the score to 59-39 at 2:45.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- UNH made all six free throw attempts.
- The Wildcats shot 46.2 percent from 3-point range (6-13).
