'Cats Drop Road Contest at Binghamton

VESTAL, N.Y. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team fell to Binghamton, 67-44, on Saturday afternoon at the Events Center.
Sophomore guard Maggie Cavanaugh (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) led the Wildcats with 11 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Junior guard Avery O'Connor (Dedham, Mass.) made an impact off the bench, contributing 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting in 17 minutes.
The Wildcats fall to 6-11 overall (0-4 America East), while the Bearcats improve to 11-6 (3-1).

first quarter- The Bearcats started strong, hitting five of their first seven shots to take a 12-2 lead, prompting a UNH timeout at the 5:56 mark.
- Binghamton's lead grew to 13 before sophomore guard Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.) scored five consecutive points to close the quarter, cutting the deficit to eight (19-11).
second quarter- Cavanaugh sparked the offense with a floater, a free throw, and an assist to senior forward Belen Morales Lopez (Alicante, Spain), narrowing the gap to six (22-16) with under six minutes left in the half.
- Binghamton responded with an 8-2 run to close the quarter, taking a 30-18 lead into halftime.
third quarter- Cavanaugh knocked down UNH's first 3-pointer of the game to open the second half at the 9:42 mark.
- Binghamton responded with a 13-4 run, stretching the lead to 18 (43-25) and prompting a UNH timeout with 4:34 remaining in the quarter.
- The Bearcats maintained their momentum, leading 54-35 through three quarters.
fourth quarter- Binghamton extended its lead to as much as 25 (60-35) before the Wildcats responded with a 9-1 run to cut the deficit to 61-44.
- The Bearcats remained in control to secure a 67-44 victory
