ORONO, MAINE – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team lost a tough game to the Maine Black Bears in a Border Battle, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings.
Lucia Melero Sabat (Barcelona, Spain) scored a career-high 12 points in the game.

FIRST QUARTER:
- Maine started off quickly scoring two back-to-back baskets and gaining a four-point lead.
- The 'Cats responded back immediately with Breezie Williams (Canton, Ohio) scoring a three-pointer.
- Maine both teams continued to maintain the tempo however Maine was able to hold onto a narrow lead thanks to multiple three-point plays and defensive stops.
- The 'Cats cut into the Black Bear's double-digit lead with a quick three-pointer by Avery O'Connor (Dedham, Mass.) to begin the second.
- A mid-range jumper by Williams with 6:40 remaining in the first half brought the Maine lead down to just five.
- After a Maine basket, O'Connor once again responded with her second three-pointer of the quarter giving Maine just a two-possession lead.
- The Wildcats kept it close for the remainder of the first half. However, Maine managed to increase the lead to eight with a last-second three-pointer.
- The third quarter started off slow for both teams. Three and a half minutes into the game UNH scored two points by way of free throws and Maine had yet to score.
- Maine began to heat up towards the mid-point of the third extending the lead to 15 with three unanswered three-point plays.
- Adara Groman (Scituate, Mass) put a stop to the Black Bear's nine-point run with a smooth mid-range jumper.
- The Wildcats were unable to keep up with the rate of scoring that Maine was dishing out in the final quarter of the game.
