DeChent Keeps Double-Digit Scoring Streak Alive

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team fell to Ivy League opponent Brown, 70-43, on Saturday afternoon at Pizzitola Sports Center.

Sophomore guard Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with 15 points, marking her 12th consecutive game in double digits to open the season.

The 'Cats fall to 5-7 on the season, while the Bears improve to 6-6.

first quarter

The teams traded buckets to open the game and were tied at 10-10 with four minutes remaining.
DeChent and junior guard Diana Eliasson (Stockholm, Sweden) each knocked down a 3-pointer, while senior forward Belen Morales Lopez (Alicante, Spain) scored four early points for the 'Cats.
The Bears closed the quarter on a 9-0 run out of the media timeout, taking a 19-10 lead.

second quarter

The 'Cats opened the second on a 7-0 run to get within two (17-19) as junior forward Lucia Melero Sabat (Barcelona, Spain) scored five points, including a top-of-the-key three on an assist by DeChent.
Brown countered with an 8-0 run, pushing the lead back to ten points (27-17).
Senior forward Clara Gomez (Barcelona, Spain) ended the Bears' run with a pull-up jumper to get UNH within eight.
The Bears then rattled off seven straight points to take a 15-point lead (34-19) into the locker room at halftime.

third quarter

Brown extended its lead to 20 (44-24) at the media timeout with 3:42 remaining in the third.
The Bears led 53-28 through three quarters.

fourth quarter

Brown opened the fourth with an 8-2 run, taking a 31-point lead (61-30) with just under five minutes remaining.
The Bears won it 70-43.
Freshman Carly Catania (West Chester, Pa.) scored her first career points, making a layup and a putback for a three-point play.
