HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team fell to #3 UConn, 92-53 Saturday night at the XL Center.
Junior guard Anthony McComb III (Dayton, Ohio) scored 17 points for the Wildcats while junior guard Sami Pissis (Paris, France) tallied 15. Senior forward Trey Woodyard (London, Ohio) added 11 points for the 'Cats.
The Wildcats fall to 1-2 (0-0 AE).

- The Wildcats locked down the Huskies on their first possession. Woodyard capitalized on the other end by knocking down a mid-range jumper.
- Following a UConn response, Woodyard drove through the lane, pump faked under the rim causing his defender to bite, then converted an easy floater to give UNH a 4-2 lead.
- McComb III continued the Wildcats' success by knocking down a triple to go up 7-4. Then free throws from freshman center Caleb Middleton (Dover, N.H.) tacked on two more points.
- UConn battled back to go down by one before Pissis stepped back and knocked down a jumper to put UNH back up 11-8.
- The Huskies went on a run to go up 11 at the end of the first half. Eight points from Pissis, Four points from McComb III, and one from Woodyard kept the Wildcats in it with a 35-24 score at the half.

- Wildcats went on a 9-8 run to start the second half of play. Woodyard recorded the first points with a layup, sophomore forward Dylan Saunders (Roanoke, Va.) made two free throws, then Woodyard made a hook shot, and Pissis sunk a three-pointer (43-33).
- UConn ran away after outscoring UNH 49-20 throughout the rest of the game.
- For the rest of the half McComb III scored eight points, graduate student forward/center Emmanuel Okpomo (Delta State, Nigeria) and junior guard Rex Sunderland (Kaysville, Utah) scored three, and Pissis and Woodyard scored two.

- The Wildcats held a dominant lead for the first nine minutes and 51 seconds of the game.
- UNH shot 80% from the free-throw line while UConn shot 76%.
- In the first half, UNH had three steals to UConns two. (Both teams finished the game with five.)

- The Wildcats return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. vs Fairfield (Lundholm Gym).
