Eight Members of Men’s Soccer Win America East Awards

The Wildcats had the most All-Conference selections of any school
BOSTON - Eight members of the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team won America East awards as announced by the conference on Friday. Senior forward Ibrahim Conde (Montreal, Quebec), graduate student forward Matthew Goncalves (Everett, Mass.), graduate student midfielder Matteo Brossel (Genova, Italy) and senior goalkeeper Erik Lauta (Aptos, Calif.) were named to the All-Conference First Team.
Grad. student midfielder Federico Tellez (Miami, Fla.), grad. student back Baptiste Gateau (Rennes, France), and freshman back Max Voigt (Oberkotzau, Germany) all earned second team All-Conference accolades.
The Wildcats had the most All-Conference selections of any school.
Voigt and freshman back Arian Recinos (Stamford, Conn.) were named to the All-Rookie Team.
Goncalves and Lauta were selected to the All-Academic Team.
All eight student-athletes earned these honors for the first time in their careers.
The America East Major Awards will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
The Wildcats (7-3-6, 4-1-2 AE) are the America East Regular Season Champions for the sixth consecutive season and are the No. 1 seed in the six-team America East Tournament. UNH is the first program to win six straight regular season titles. UNH will play either No. 4 seed Bryant or No. 5 seed NJIT in the America East Semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Wildcat Stadium at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on UNHWildcats.com/BuyTickets.
With a win, the Wildcats would play in the championship game on Sunday, Nov. 17 at Wildcat Stadium at 2 p.m. UNH is looking to win its fifth America East Tournament in the last seven seasons.
Conde has seven goals and three assists for 17 points. His 1.42 points per game lead America East, while his .583 goals per game is second. He was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week two times this season. For his career, he has eight goals and four assists for 20 points.
Goncalves leads the team with 10 goals and 22 points this season, while he is also first with four game-winning goals. He is ranked first in the conference in goals, points and game-winning goals. His four game winning goals are ninth in the country, while his 10 goals are 22nd. He is tied for ninth in program history for goals for a season. Goncalves is a two-time recipient of America East Offensive Player of the Week award. For his collegiate career, he has 15 goals and eight assists for 38 points which includes four years at Cornell.
Brossel has appeared in all 16 games with 15 starts. He is tied for fourth on the team with two assists on the season. He posted his first point as a Wildcat on the game-tying goal in the 1-1 tie versus Northeastern, while he tallied an assist on the game-winning goal in the 2-1 win at Bryant.
Lauta has started in all 16 games this season with a 7-3-6 record and five shutouts. He was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week two times this season. His .818 goals against average is third in the league and 19th nationally, while his .794 save percentage is also third in the conference and 17th nationally.
Tellez leads the team with four assists this season. His .286 assists per game are tied for fourth in the conference. He posted two assists versus William & Mary in the 3-2 win. Throughout his career, he has recorded 11 goals, along with 31 assists for 53 points, which included four years at Northeastern.
Gateau has appeared in 15 games with 12 starts on defense. He is a member of a defense that has only allowed 13 goals this season. The team's .813 goals against average is ranked second in the conference and 15th nationally.
Voigt has played in 12 games with 10 starts on defense. He posted his first collegiate point with an assist in the 5-1 win at UAlbany. He has been a part of a defense that is second in the conference with a .813 goals against average which is also 15th in the country.
Recinos has appeared in 15 games with 14 starts on defense. He recorded his first collegiate point with an assist at UAlbany in the 5-1 win. Recinos was awarded America East Rookie of the Week honors once this season. He is a member of a defense that is ranked 15th in the nation with a .813 goals against average.
