DeChent Records Career High Eight Rebounds, Ties Career High 18 Points
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team defeated UMass 48-45 on Wednesday evening at the Mullins Center.
Sophomore Eva DeChent (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with 18 points, while junior Lucia Melero Sabat (Barcelona, Spain) and sophomore guard Maggie Cavanaugh (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) contributed eight points and six rebounds.

- The Wildcats continue their road trip when they travel to Merrimack on Monday, Nov. 11 for a 3 p.m. game at Hammel Court in North Andover, Mass.

- UMass controlled the majority of the first quarter after leading the Wildcats 13-4 at 1:39.
- A free throw from junior guard Diana Eliasson (Stockholm, Sweden) sparked five straight points for the Wildcats including layups from DeChent and Melero Sabat.
- That five-point stretch thinned the deficit to 13-9 going into the second quarter.

- Freshman guard Elizabeth Lavoie (Derry, N.H.) knocked down a 3-pointer to kick off the second quarter and put the 'Cats within one.
- Graduate student Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y.) followed up a UMass bucket with the Wildcats' second 3-pointer of the half to tie the score at 15.
- The teams traded points as the score tied at 17 and 19 but a layup from the Minutewomen gave UMass a two-point lead going into halftime.
- UNH held UMass to zero points in the last 3:44 of the quarter.
- Six different Wildcats scored in the first half.

- UNH and UMass each scored four points to start the second half. Melero Sabat drained two jump shots.
- The Minutewomen went up by six before the 'Cats dropped seven straight points to take their first lead of the game (30-29).
- DeChent stepped through the lane to make a layup and pulled up from the wing to drop a three-pointer. Cavanaugh forced a UMass timeout after knocking down a mid-range shot from the elbow.
- UMass responded with four points to go up 30-33 but DeChent knocked down her second 3-pointer of the night to tie it back up.
- A Minutewomen 3-pointer mixed with a driving layup from Melero Sabat made the score 36-35 going into the final 10 minutes.

- DeChent and Cavanaugh forced a UMass timeout just over one minute into the fourth after giving UNH a 39-36 lead.
- After the Minutewomen brought the score back within one point, Lusher drained her second three of the night at 7:39 (42-38).
- UMass battled back to go up 45-42 with 1:25 in the game. DeChent made two free throws to tie her career-high (18 points).
- With a chance to ice the game, UMass committed a backcourt violation giving the Wildcats the ball with 19 seconds remaining. Cavanaugh drove down the right side of the lane and scored a diving layup to give UNH a one-point lead with 12 seconds on the clock.
- The Wildcat defense remained strong to force a jump ball and gain possession with four seconds left. Cavanaugh made both free throws after being fouled with three seconds on the clock. UMass was unable to tie the game up and the Wildcats picked up their second win of the season (48-45).
