Wildcats Fall to Holy Cross, 57-43

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team fell to Holy Cross, 57-43, on Tuesday evening at Lundhom Gymnasium.
Sophomore Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with 14 points, marking her eighth consecutive game scoring in double figures to start the season.
The 'Cats drop to 4-4, while the Crusaders improve to 4-3.

· The teams traded buckets early, with DeChent hitting a 3-pointer at the 4:46 mark to bring UNH within one (8-7).
· Holy Cross responded with an 8-2 run, extending its lead to 16-9 with 3:10 left in the quarter.

· Two free throws from DeChent pulled the Wildcats within four (24-20), but Holy Cross pushed the lead back to nine (31-22) by halftime.
third quarter
· UNH started the second half strong with an 11-4 run, capped by a Lusher 3-pointer that cut the deficit to two (35-33) and forced a Holy Cross timeout at the 4:22 mark.
· Out of the timeout, the Crusaders scored five straight points to extend their lead to seven.
· DeChent hit a pair of free throws to close the gap to 40-35 heading into the final quarter.
fourth quarter
· A driving layup by senior Clara Gomez (Barcelona, Spain) brought the Wildcats within four (45-41) with 6:08 remaining.
· Holy Cross answered decisively, knocking down four consecutive 3-pointers to seal the 57-43 victory.
