HANOVER, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team defeated in-state rival Dartmouth, 64-57, on Sunday afternoon at Leede Arena.

Sophomore Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.) tied her career high with 34 points on 11-of-21 shooting, including a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line. She added six rebounds, three assists, and two blocks to power the Wildcats.

The 'Cats improve to 5-4, while the Big Green fall to 2-3.

first quarter

· Dartmouth converted a bucket at the 7:23 mark to take an early 7-2 lead.
· UNH closed the quarter on a 6-0 run to tie the game at 16-16. DeChent scored six points in the opening frame.

second quarter

·      After Dartmouth opened the quarter with a basket, UNH responded with a 7-0 run, capped by a Dechent 3-pointer to take a 23-18 lead with 6:33 remaining in the half.
·      Junior Avery O'Connor (Dedham, Mass.) knocked down a 3-pointer at the 3:20 mark, making it 28-23.
·      DeChent beat the buzzer with a turnaround mid-range jumper, giving UNH a 33-27 advantage at halftime. She led all scorers with 14 points at the break.

third quarter

·      DeChent scored seven straight points for the Wildcats to open the second half, hitting two mid-range jumpers, including a three-point play, and a layup.
·      A 9-0 run, fueled by buckets from junior Lucia Melero Sabat (Barcelona, Spain) and senior Clara Gomez (Barcelona, Spain), and capped by O'Connor's second three of the game, pushed UNH's lead to 47-29 with 5:21 remaining.
·      With 0.7 seconds left in the quarter, DeChent drew a foul while attempting a buzzer-beater and sank both free throws, giving UNH a 53-37 lead heading into the fourth.

fourth quarter

·      Dartmouth opened the fourth on a 6-2 run, trimming UNH's lead to 55-43 at the under-five media timeout.
·      A Dartmouth layup at the 2:05 mark brought the Big Green within seven (57-50). DeChent responded with another three-point play, bringing her total to 30 points for the game.
·      Dartmouth hit a three with 12 seconds remaining to make it 62-57, but DeChent sealed the win with two free throws, as UNH claimed a 64-57 victory.

· DeChent tied her career high and recorded her ninth straight double-digit scoring game to open the season.
· O'Connor added a season-high 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting, including 2-for-3 from distance.
· Gomez contributed a game-high seven rebounds, to go along with six points, two assists, two steals, and a block.
