UNH Picks Up Dominant 58-31 Victory at Northeastern

BOSTON, Mass. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team secured a decisive 58-31 victory over Northeastern on Thursday evening at Solomon Court.
Senior Clara Gomez (Barcelona, Spain) led the way with a season-high 14 points on 7-for-9 shooting and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds. Sophomore Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.) added 10 points, marking her fourth consecutive double-digit scoring game to open the season.
With the win, the Wildcats improve to 3-1, while Northeastern falls to 0-3.

- The Wildcats took an early 6-4 lead at the under-five media timeout, with junior Lucia Melero Sabat (Barcelona, Spain), sophomore Maggie Cavanaugh (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.), and DeChent each contributing a basket.
- With 1:35 remaining in the first, graduate Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y.) picked up a steal and then hit a 3-pointer in transition off a pass from junior Diana Eliasson (Stockholm, Sweden), extending the lead to 11-5.
- UNH finished the quarter ahead, 13-8.

- The Wildcats broke the game open with a 14-0 run, forcing eight turnovers and holding the Huskies scoreless from the field to push the lead to 29-9 at halftime.
- DeChent scored eight points in the quarter, reaching 10 by halftime. Seven Wildcats scored in the first half, with UNH converting 13 points off turnovers.

- UNH began the second half on a 6-0 run, extending its lead to 35-11 with 5:00 remaining in the third quarter.
- Back-to-back buckets from Eliasson and Gomez forced a Northeastern timeout as the Wildcats stretched the lead to 39-13.
- Gomez scored eight points in the third quarter, helping UNH to a 43-18 lead entering the fourth.

- The Wildcats started the fourth on an 8-2 run, pushing the lead to 51-20.
- Junior Aina Roque Sucarrats (Cervera, Spain) added a free throw, giving UNH its largest lead of the game at 58-24 with 3:46 left.
- Northeastern ended the game with a 7-0 run, making the final score 58-31.

- Gomez notched her first double-digit scoring outing of the season.
- DeChent recorded her fourth straight double-digit scoring game.
