UNH Ties Bryant, 0-0, in AE Semifinal; Bulldogs Advance to Final by Winning Shootout

Bryant takes shootout, 4-2
DURHAM, N.H. – Senior goalkeeper Erik Lauta (Aptos, Calif.) made five saves to record a shutout as the No. 1 seed University of New Hampshire men's soccer team tied No. 4 seed Bryant, 0-0, in the semifinals of the America East Championship on Wednesday evening at Wildcat Stadium, but the Bulldogs advanced to the final by winning a penalty kick shootout, 4-2.
Bryant will take on No. 2 seed Vermont in Burlington on Sunday, Nov. 17 in the title game at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Wildcats conclude the season 7-3-7, while the Bulldogs are now 10-5-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a scoreless 110 minutes which included a big save by Lauta in the 51st minute off a shot by Filipe Bastos, the game went into a penalty kick shootout.
- Each team scored in the first round as Kerman Sukia sent the ball to the upper left corner and senior Ibrahim Conde (Montreal, Quebec) fired a shot to the bottom left of the goal.
- After neither team scored in the second round, Jonas Lyshoj placed a shot into the bottom left of the net and Antreas Hadjigavriel made a save as the Bulldogs led 2-1.
- Marc Pitarch Bayot led off the fourth round with a goal, while junior Terry Makedika (Paris, France) sent a shot to the bottom right side of the net as Bryant took a 3-2 advantage to the fifth round.
- Tibo Jacobs sent Bryant to the final when he clinched the shootout win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Each team took 10 shots, while the Bulldogs posted five shots on goal and the 'Cats had four.
- UNH took four corner kicks and the Bulldogs had three.
