Five Wildcat Teams Record a Perfect Score of 1,000
INDIANAPOLIS – Five University of New Hampshire teams received a perfect score of 1,000 in the multiyear Academic Progress Rate that was released by the NCAA on Tuesday as part of its Academic Performance Program.
The five distinguished programs are women's basketball, men's cross country, gymnastics, women's ice hockey and women's ski. The UNH men's cross country team has recorded a perfect score six consecutive years; women's basketball and gymnastics also tallied a perfect score a year ago.

A total of nine Wildcat teams recorded a score of 990 or better. In addition to the aforementioned five teams that tallied a perfect score, men's hockey (994), women's track & field (993), lacrosse (992) and women's soccer (992) also scored higher than 990.
Twelve UNH teams recorded a score better than their respective sport national average; five of those were 10 points or more higher, led by women's basketball at +18 and followed by men's cross country (+17), men's basketball and football (+11), and men's hockey (+10).

Also of note, 12 of 18 UNH teams had a score equal or higher national retention rate than their respective sport national average. Eight of 18 UNH teams were higher than their respective sports for eligibility rate.
Implemented in 2003 as part of an ambitious academic reform effort in Division I, the Academic Progress Rate (APR) holds institutions accountable for the academic progress of their student-athletes through a team-based metric that accounts for the eligibility and retention of each student-athlete for each academic term.
The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 academic years.
Teams must earn a four-year APR of 930 to compete in championships. Every UNH program scored considerably higher than the required score.
This is the second year of publicly reported APRs after a one-year COVID-19 hiatus.
