Men's Soccer Announces Team Awards

Wildcats celebrate championship season at annual team banquet.
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer program held its annual banquet and announced its 2022 team awards on April 16 at the Three Chimneys. The team won the America East championship for the fourth time and earned its sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance advancing to the second round after defeating Seton Hall, 2-1.
2022 UNH Men's Soccer Award Winners:
Robert Black Most Valuable Player Award: Moise Bombito
Bombito had an outstanding season for the Wildcats as he was named a second team All-American and was a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy. He won the 2022 America East and ECAC Defender of the Year Awards and earned first team All-America East and ECAC accolades. He tied for third on the team with four goals and tied for second with two game winners. Bombito led a defense that was third in the nation with a 0.500 team goals against average. He was drafted third in the MLS SuperDraft to the Colorado Rapids.

Harvey Johnson Most Inspirational Player Award: Chris Pinkham
Pinkham played 65 games over five seasons (2018-22) as a UNH midfielder/back with a total of three goals and 10 assists. This past season, he started 18 of 19 matches and recorded six points, all on assists, to rank second on the team and tied for No. 5 in the America East conference in assists. Pinkham ranked fourth among UNH field players with 1,524 minutes played.

Walter Weiland Most Dedicated Player Award: Jassem Koleilat
Koleilat was stellar in net this season as he was third in the nation with 11 shutouts and was fifth with 0.599 goals against average. He earned All-Northeast Region First Team accolades, while he was selected to the All-America East Second Team. Over two seasons, he recorded an outstanding 32-6-3 (.817) record and posted 19 shutouts. He was selected by 2022 MLS Cup champion Los Angeles FC in the second round of the MLS draft with the 58th overall pick.

Glenn Aborn Most Improved Player Award: Eli Goldman
Goldman had a phenomenal season playing in all 20 games, leading the team with nine goals and 19 points. He also led the Wildcats with three game-winning goals. Additionally, Goldman earned First Team All-Conference, Second Team All Region and America East Tournament Team.

H. Richard Sandler Academic Achievement Award Eli Goldman
Goldman recorded a 3.89 GPA and was named to the America East All-Academic Team.

Coaches Award: Adi Hicks
Hicks won the Coaches Award which is voted on by the coaching staff. Hicks appeared in 10 games this season.

Lucas Currier Award: Eli Goldman
The Lucas Currier Award is given to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of Lucas Currier, a member of the team with the will to overcome all obstacles and has a never-ending pursuit of excellence. Goldman just recently won the UNH Athletics Coaches Award.

Mike Veneto Golden Boot Award: Eli Goldman
Goldman led the Wildcats with nine goals and 19 points.
