Wildcats Advance to Semifinals with 67-60 Win Versus Bryant

Daniels records 15th double-double to lead ‘Cats to first semifinal game since 2017
DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Clarence Daniels (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) scored 22 points to lead the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team to a 67-60 victory against Bryant Saturday afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium. The 'Cats move on to the Jersey Mike's America East semifinals on March 7 with their opponent to be determined based on the outcomes of Saturday night's America East quarterfinal games..
With the win, UNH improves to 15-14 (10-7 AE) and and Bryant falls to 17-13 (8-9 AE) as their first season in the America East comes to an end.

FIRST HALF
- Bryant began the game by scoring the first six points before graduate student Matt Herasme (Chester, N.Y) converted a layup to put UNH on the board.
- UNH went scoreless for the next four minutes until Daniels stole the ball and finished a layup on the fastbreak to make the score 9-4 with 13:35 left in the half.
- The Bulldogs took a 16-8 lead when Tyler Brelsford made a driving layup but the 'Cats responded with an 8-0 run to tie the game at 16 apiece.
- With 5 minutes remaining in the half, freshman Christian Moore (Virginia Beach, VA) drained a 3-pointer putting the 'Cats in the lead 21-18.
- Bryant ended the half by outscoring UNH 10-2 over the final five minutes, taking a 28-23 lead into the locker room.
- UNH had 10 points off turnovers while Bryant only had 3.
- Moore and Daniels led the Wildcats with eight points each while the Bulldogs were led by Earl Timberlake who scored 11 at the break.
SECOND HALF
- Mile Latimer opened the scoring in the second half with a turnaround jumper for the Bulldogs.
- The 'Cats scored the next five points to trim their deficit down to two points, 30-28 with just over 17 minutes left to play.
- UNH took their first lead of the second half after sophomore Trey Woodyard (London, Ohio) finished a layup to put the 'Cats ahead 36-35 with 11:56 remaining.
- The teams went back and forth over the next few minutes with Bryant taking a four-point lead, 42-38, after a layup from Brelsford.
- Daniels went on an 8-2 run by himself, netting four free throws and two layups to put the Wildcats back out in front 46-44 with just 3:48 left in the game.
- Graduate student Jaxson Baker (Phoenix, Az) drilled a deep 3-pointer for his first field goal of the game to put UNH up by four with just over three minutes to play.
- After a Bulldog layup from Timberlake cut the Wildcat lead down to two points, the 'Cats responded with a 9-1 run, tallying all nine points from the free throw stripe.
- Junior Kyree Brown (Oakland, Calif.) was automatic from the line in the second half, going 10-10 to help seal the victory for the Wildcats.
- UNH outscored Bryant 44-32 in the second frame of action, catapulting them to a 67-60 win as the Wildcats advance to the semifinals of the Jersey Mike's America East Playoffs.
NOTEWORTHY
- UNH improved their record against Bryant to 5-8 lifetime. The 'Cats had lost the previous four meetings with the Bulldogs – including two in Durham.
- The 'Cats are now 11-4 at Lundholm Gymnasium this season including four straight wins at home.
- This was the second straight win for the Wildcats when trailing at halftime which they were previously 0-10 in.
- UNH improved to 2-12 on the year when they are trailing with 5:00 remaining in the ballgame.
- Daniels recorded his conference-leading 15th double-double of the season with 22 points and 14 rebounds. His 15 double-doubles tie him for the 11th most in Division 1.
- Browns' 10 free throws were the most by a Wildcat since Tanner Leissner made 13 on Jan. 10, 2018.
- This was UNH's first AE quarterfinal win since March 1, 2017, when they defeated UMBC 74-65.
- Bryant was led by Earl Timberlake who finished with 18 points and six rebounds in the Bulldogs' first-ever America East playoff appearance.
