Wildcats Defeat Marist 74-71 in Exciting Contest

Wildcats stay undefeated at home.
DURHAM, N.H. – Senior forward Clarence Daniels (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) recorded a double double (23 points, 11 rebounds) in the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team's Tuesday evening victory over Marist, 74-71 at Lundholm Gymnasium.
Graduate Student Jaxson Baker (Phoenix, Ariz.) created a strong lead for the Wildcats making three 3-pointers in the first half. Daniels reaches new season high in rebounds, previously recording nine against Brown, contributing 11.
The Wildcats' record advances to 3-2 (0-0 AE) and Marist's falls to 2-2 (0-0 MAAC).

FIRST HALF:
- Sophomore forward Trey Woodyard (London, Ohio) drained the first points of the game with a three pointer from the left side of the court.
- Baker went three for four in three-pointers and field goals along with contributing one assist, making for nine of the Wildcat's points.
- Daniels had 15 points to help end the half at 39-31, Wildcats.
SECOND HALF:
- Marist went on a 12-5 run to start the half, bringing the Wildcat lead to just one.
- Junior guard Ahmad Robinson (West Orange, N.J.) sank two free throws with 3:30 left in the game to make the score a two-possession game. Marist followed with two successful free throws.
- Grad student forward Naim Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa.) sank a three, which was immediately followed-up by a three from Marist's Noah Harris with 2:30 left.
- After one successful free throw and a driving layup from the 'Cats to make the game 70-64, Marist's Javon Cooley brought the game closer with a three-pointer, 70-67.
- Robinson drained four more free throws in the final 30 seconds to secure the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Wildcats held the lead over the Red Foxes for 99.2% of the game.
- UNH had six offensive rebounds, four of which were from Daniels, in comparison to Marist's four.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- This is the second game in a row that the Wildcats have opened scoring with a three-pointer. Sophomore guard Rex Sunderland (Kaysville, Utah) got the 'Cats on the board first in the team's last game at George Washington with a three from the left corner of the court.
- With the win Tuesday evening, UNH remains undefeated at home.
- Robinson scored a career high as a Wildcat, 16.
