DURHAM, N.H. – Senior guard Adara Groman (Scituate, Mass) led the 'Cats with 20 points as the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team defeated Howard University, 59-51 on Sunday night at Lundholm Gymnasium.

The Wildcats' record improves to 2-1 (0-0-AE) and Howard falls to 1-2 (0-0-MEAC).

FIRST QUARTER:

Senior guard Adara Groman (Scituate, Mass) started the 'Cats off strong with a three point shot putting UNH up 3-0 with nine minutes left in the quarter.
Freshman Sharmela Reid (Montreal, Quebec) took the first free throw for the 'Cats, making two shots, bringing the score to be 11-17 as the Bison lead.
With 5 seconds left on the clock, senior guard Bella Stuart (Clifton Park, N.Y.) scored with a jumper, ending the quarter with a score of 19-15, Bison in the lead.

SECOND QUARTER:

started the second quarter off with her second three pointer of the game putting UNH only one point behind, as Bison lead 19-18.
Stuart scored a layup shortly after, bringing the 'Cats to the lead 20-19, before the Bison scored to lead 22-20.
made two foul shots, with 1:06 left in the quarter, bringing the score to a 22-22 tie.
With 21 seconds left in the quarter, senior guard Belen Morales Lopez scored 2 points from a free throw, bringing the 'Cats to lead 24-22.
At the end of the half, Adara Groman leads the 'Cats with 8 points.

THIRD QUARTER:

Groman scored the first points of the quarter for UNH, with two free throws, as the 'Cats still lead 26-24.
With 1:29 left in the third quarter, Groman scored a three pointer for the 'Cats; Bison in the lead 35-34.
Shortly after, Belen Morales Lopez scored two points for UNH with a driving layup, with the score now 37-36, Bison in the lead.
The quarter ended with the Bison in the lead 39-36.

FOURTH QUARTER:

With seven minutes on the clock, Groman scored the first point of the quarter for UNH and started the run with a layup.
Stuart scored shortly after and continued the 'Cats run with a jumper, bringing the 'Cats to lead 40-39.
Senior center Paige Cote (Sanford, Maine) continued the run with a layup, scoring two points and extending the UNH lead 42-39.
Sophomore guard Avery O'Connor (Dedham, Mass) scored a three pointer, keeping the 'Cats lead 45-39, with five minutes left on the clock.
O'Connor scored another three point shot with 2:34 left; 'Cats still in the lead 50-44.
