MacNeil Scores First Career Goal in 3-2 Loss at BU

BOSTON – Freshman Addison MacNeil (Brentwood, N.H.) scored her first career goal to give the University of New Hampshire field hockey team a 2-1 lead, but Boston University rallied for a 3-2 victory Friday evening at New Balance Field.
UNH's other goal was scored by sophomore captain Tasmin Cookman (Woking, England). Jemma Woods (Frimley, England) was not credited with a save.
BU's Caroline O'Brien and Tegan Poerio scored at 50:48 and 53:47 to lift the Terriers to victory. Thatlia Steenssens scored their other goal and Kate Thomason made three saves.
UNH is now 8-4 overall and BU is 6-5.

FIRST QUARTER
- UNH recorded a 5-2 shot advantage and the score was tied 1-1 through 15 minutes.
- Cookman gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 12:02 when she lifted a shot off a rebound inside the right post. Thomason had stopped the initial shot off the stick of Nicole Poulakis (Ajax, Ontario).
- Steenssens leveled the score, 1-1, with seven seconds remaining in the first quarter.
SECOND QUARTER
- New Hampshire recorded a 3-2 shot advantage with a 2-0 edge in penalty corners in the scoreless second quarter.
THIRD QUARTER
- UNH scored on the only shot of the third quarter.
- MacNeil scored on a high shot from the left side to put the 'Cats back in front, 2-1, at 35:05. Kathelijne Knuttel (Groningen, Netherlands) was credited with the assist.
FOURTH QUARTER
- BU recorded the only two shots of the fourth quarter to rally for the win.
- Woods was pulled in favor of an extra field player with 2:49 remaining, but UNH did not record a shot the rest of the way.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- New Hampshire finished with a 9-6 shot advantage that included 5-3 on goal.
- UNH recorded the only three penalty corners, all in the first half.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Cookman, who entered the game ranked 10th in the nation in goals per game and 11th in points per game, extended her point streak to three games by scoring her 12th goal of the season.
- She leads the team in both goals and points (27).
- Knuttel also extended her point streak to three games; she has tallied a point in 9 of 12 games this season.
- She ranks second on the team in assists (five) and third in points (15).
- MacNeil now has four points on a goal and two assists.

- UNH has a 19-26-3 lifetime record against BU.
