Johnsons’ 16 points and 16 rebounds lead UNH to first win vs. Vermont since 2015
DURHAM, N.H. - Junior Nick Johnson (Bronx, N.Y.) recorded a double-double in the first half to lead the University of New Hampshire's men's basketball team in a win over Vermont, 67-60, in America East conference play on Sunday afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium.
With the win, UNH improves to 7-8 (2-1 AE) and Vermont falls to 8-9 (2-1 AE).

FIRST HALF
- The Catamounts opened the game with a three pointer from Matt Veretto but the Wildcats answered with seven unanswered points.
- Johnson tallied up six points in a 10-0 run, including a three pointer, to increase the lead to 19-9 with 12:32 left in the half.
- Junior Clarence Daniels (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and graduate student Matt Herasme (Chester, N.Y.) both netted jump shots to increase the run to 14 unanswered points.
- Herasme pulled up from long range with just under five minutes remaining in the first half to give the 'Cats their largest lead of the frame, 32-15.
- The Catamounts were able to end the half on an 11-5 run to cut the Wildcat lead to 37-26 heading into the locker rooms.
- Johnson led UNH with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Robin Duncan had seven points and three rebounds to lead Vermont.
SECOND HALF
- The Catamounts opened the half with a jumper, but graduate student Jaxson Baker (Phoenix, Ariz.) sunk a three pointer to answer right away.
- Vermont outscored the Wildcats 11-10 in the first five minutes of the second half.
- The Catamounts went on an 8-0 run with 8:11 left in the game. The Catamounts nailed back-to-back three pointers to bring the Wildcats' lead down to three, 56-53.
- Baker tallied his third three pointer to increase the lead to 63-56 with 3:12 left in the game.
- Both teams finished with four points apiece, leading to a final tally of 67-60 in favor of UNH.
NOTEWORTHY
- UNH improves to 50-107 all-time when they match up with Vermont, ending a winless streak of 15 straight games against the Catamounts dating back to Jan. 22, 2015.
- Johnson tallied his sixth consecutive game in double figures, the longest streak of his career and the longest active streak for a Wildcat.
- This was Johnsons' second double-double of his career and first of this season.
- This was Daniels' 12th game of the season with 8+ rebounds, the most since Sean Sutherlin recorded 18 such games in the 2019-20 season.
- With his lone 3-pointer, Herasme has now scored from long range in 14 of the 15 games he's played this season.
- Baker tallied a season-high 13 points, 4 assists, and 36 minutes on 4 of 7 shooting from the field.
- Baker has now hit 3+ three-pointers in four games this year, matching Herasme for the team lead.
