‘Cats Sweep Regular Season Series against UAlbany with 84-65 Win

First regular season sweep of UAlbany since the 2009-10 season
DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Kyree Brown (Oakland, Calif.) and graduate student Matt Herasme (Chester, N.Y.) each surpassed the 20-point mark in an 84-65 victory against UAlbany, Wednesday evening, at Lundholm Gymnasium.
With the win, UNH improves to 9-10 (4-3 AE) and UAlbany falls to 6-16 (1-6 AE).

FIRST HALF
- The 'Cats took the lead from the beginning with junior Clarence Daniels (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) securing two free-throws after being followed on a layup.
- The 'Cats and the Great Danes both contributed buckets over the next few minutes leaving the 'Cats with a three-point lead.
- A three pointer from graduate student Jaxson Baker (Phoenix, Ariz.) increased the 'Cats lead to six points, 23-17, with 10:55 remaining in the half.
- The Great Danes cut the deficit to within four after a layup from Aaron Reddish made it 30-26 with 4:25 on the clock.
- Brown's three-pointer at 3:15 opened up their largest lead of the half at seven points, 33-26.
- Herasme paced the 'Cats with 15 points with Brown contributing nine points of his own in the opening frame. Marcus Jackson netted 11 points for the Great Danes.
- UNH led UAlbany 40-29 at the half.
SECOND HALF
- Junior Nick Johnson (Bronx, N.Y.) and freshman Ridvan Tutic (Novi Pazar, Serbia) got the Wildcats offense going in the second half with a basket from each of them.
- The 'Cats went on to score the first four baskets of the half building their lead to 19 points, 48-29.
- The Great Danes went scoreless until 15:52 when Malik Edmead scored a jumper making it 48-31
- Johnson drove to the rack and finished with a monstrous dunk with 15:14 remaining in the game.
- A three-pointer from UAlbanys' Sarju Patel cut the deficit to 12 points for the Great Danes but the 'Cats responded with a 9-0 run for a 61-40 lead.
- The Wildcats went 5 of 5 from the field over a four-minute stretch to hold onto their double-digit lead with less than four minutes remaining.
- Herasme sank a three-pointer with 2:38 left in the game to reach a career-high 22 points.
- Johnson ended the game with a three-pointer securing the win, 84-65
- UNH outscored UAlbany 44-36 in the second half on 54.8% shooting from the field.
NOTEWORTHY
- UNH is now 19-21 in the all-time series against UAlbany. The 'Cats are 11-7 when hosting the Great Danes at Lundholm Gymnasium.
- This is the first time the Wildcats have swept the two-game regular season series with UAlbany since the 2009-10 season.
- Herasme scored a career-high 22 points, 15of which came in the first half of the game.
- Daniels put up 17 rebounds to lead the 'Cats on the glass. The last time Daniels recorded 17+ rebounds was at Columbia (18) on Dec. 3, 2022.
- Herasme has now recorded a three in 18 of the 19 games he's played in this season.
- Johnson has now scored in double figures in 10 straight games, the longest active streak on the team.
- Daniels recorded his 10th double-double of the season, scoring 12 points while grabbing 17 rebounds, tying him for the ninth most in Div. 1.
- The 'Cats led for 39:17, never trailing in the game.
- Marcus Jackson scored 15 points to lead the Great Danes while Sarju Patel tallied 14 of his own for UAlbany.
