Wildcats Drop 3-2 OT Contest to #19 UMass Lowell

DURHAM, N.H. – Jake Stella scored the overtime game winner for the River Hawks as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to No. 19 UMass Lowell, 3-2, on Saturday evening at the Whittemore Center.
The Wildcats fall to 7-18-1 (2-13-1 Hockey East) and picked up a point in the league standings, while the River Hawks improve to 14-9-1 (8-5-1 Hockey East) and tallied two points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- At 8:19 into the second period Isac Jonsson scored on a wrist shot from the left circle, glove side on senior goaltender David Fessenden (Parker, Colo.) as the River Hawks took a 1-0 lead.
- Then at 16:02 and on a five minute major power play, freshman forward Cy LeClerc (Brentwood, N.H.) scored from the top of the crease, glove side to tie the game at 1-1. Sophomore forward Liam Devlin (Needham, Mass.) and freshman defenseman Damian Carfagna (Wood-Ridge, N.J.) each tallied an assist on the goal. The goal was LeClerc's team leading 12th of the season.

- Shortly after at 18:58, Devlin tipped in Carfagna's slap shot from the point. Sophomore defenseman Colton Huard (Foothill Ranch, Cali.) also assisted on the goal.

- At 16:31 of the third period, Jon McDonald sent a shot from the slot to the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2.
- Then with just 51 seconds remaining in overtime, Stella scored the winner to give the River Hawks the win and the extra point in the standings.
