LOWELL, Mass. – Isac Jonsson netted the game-winning goal for the River Hawks as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell No. 19 UMass Lowell, 6-2, on Friday night at the Tsongas Center in Hockey East action.

The Wildcats fall to 7-17-1 (2-12-1 Hockey East), while the River Hawks improve to 13-9-1 (7-5-1 Hockey East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead at 2:46 of the first period when freshman forward Jake Dunlap (Windham, N.H.) sent a shot from the faceoff circle glove side for his second goal of the season. Sophomore defenseman Alex Gagne (Bedford, N.H.) posted an assist on the goal.

One minute later, the River Hawks tied the game at 1-1 on a backhander from the slot by Brian Chambers for the power play goal.
At 3:31 of the second period Owen Fowler gave the River Hawks a 2-1 advantage when he found the back of the net.
The Wildcats then tied the game at 2-2 at 14:00 of the second period when River Hawk goalie Gustavs Davis Grigals attempted to clear the puck from behind his goal but it deflected off junior forward Cam Gendron (Hampstead, N.H.) to the back of the net. The goal was his first of the season.

Just 44 seconds after the opening faceoff of the third period, Jonsson broke the 2-2 tie with a shot from the blue line through traffic and to the back of the net for the power play goal.
Then at 2:03, Zach Kaiser scored on a breakaway for the 4-2 lead.
The Wildcats went with an empty net with 2:29 left but Fowler scored his second goal of the game to make it 5-2.
Then with 1:04 remaining, Kaiser netted his second goal for the 6-2 final score.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Senior goalie David Fessenden (Parker, Colo.) made 29 saves, while Grigals tallied 23 for the River Hawks.
UML outshot UNH, 35-25.
The Wildcats went 0-3 on the power play, while the River Hawks went 2-5.
