LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of New Hampshire volleyball team has earned the 2022 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, which was announced on Monday afternoon.
The AVCA Team Academic Award honors volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the 2020-21 school year by recording a 3.30 or higher team grade point average. The Wildcats achieved that with a mark with a 3.60 team GPA in the fall semester during their championship season and 3.58 GPA in the spring term.
"My staff and I are extremely proud of the continued academic success of our student-athletes," said head coach Christopher Feliciano. "It goes without question that this is the new standard in our program."
A total of 215 Division I women's programs were honored by the association for the 2021-22 academic year.
UNH has received this team accolade a total of eight times in the history of the program. The 'Cats previously earned the distinction in five consecutive years (2012-16) and again in 2018 and 2021.
The AVCA, an educationally based nonprofit headquartered in Lexington, KY, is the largest and most diverse volleyball coaches' association in the world. With a broad mandate to develop the sport, the AVCA provides leadership, recognition, advocacy, and professional development opportunities to over 8,000 volleyball coaches. Members include college, high school, club, and youth coaches, and well as a wide variety of product and service providers. Further information is available at avca.org.
