UNH opens the season on August 26th hosting the annual Holly Young Invitational
DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire volleyball program, led by fourth-year head coach Christopher Feliciano, announced its 27-match schedule for the 2022 season on Friday.
Â
UNH will play four regular-season tournaments, including its annual Holly Young Invitational to highlight 11 home matches at Lundholm Gym.Â
The Wildcats officially kick off the season on August 26 against Merrimack College in the opening match of the Holly Young Invitational and will also face St. Francis Brooklyn, Saint Peter's and Hartford in the tournament that weekend in Durham.
UNH will also travel to non-conference tournaments at Villanova (Sept. 2-3), Tennessee (Sept. 9-10) and George Mason (Sept. 16-17).Â
"The rigors of the 2022 schedule will test our program in many ways," said Feliciano. "In order to contend for an America East Championship, we have to master being able to produce not only same effort but the same result whether we are home or away. Our non-conference schedule will put us to that test. I am confident in the abilities of not only our players, but also our staff to meet this standard."
The Wildcats will open America East play against UAlbany on Friday, September 30 at Lundholm Gym.Â
UNH will host its final home match of the season on Sunday, November 13 on Senior Day against NJIT.Â
The 2022 America East Volleyball Championships begin Nov. 18 at the site of the highest seed.
UNH will also host a match against its playing alumni on Saturday, August 20 (1pm), followed by a luncheon with current and former players in attendance.
The Wildcats finished the 2021 season with a 16-12 overall record and a 7-5 record in America East play, which was tied for third in the America East standings. UNH qualified for the America East playoffs for the third straight year under Feliciano's tenure.
