NEWARK, N.J. -- The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team fell at NJIT, 64-48 in America East on Wednesday night at the NJIT Wellness and Events Center.
The Wildcats drop to 4-17 overall (1-9 AE) after the loss, while the Highlanders improve to 11-11 overall (6-5 AE) with the victory.
Graduate student guard Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) led the Wildcats offensively with 13 points and five rebounds, while junior forward Ivy Gogolin (Hopkinton, Mass.) and senior guard Sophia Widmeyer (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) each notched 12 points apiece in the losing effort. Junior guard Helena Delaruelle (Enghien-les-Bains, France) added five points, seven rebounds and five assists.
The Wildcats shot a team-high 62% on 8-of-13 shooting in the second quarter. UNH owned a 39-37 advantage against NJIT on the glass, as well as a 30-9 edge in bench scoring.
Lyzi Litwinko led the Highlanders with a game-high 17 points, while Ellyn Stoll added 14 points for NJIT in the victory.
UNH returns to action on Saturday, February 12 vs. Binghamton in America East play. Game time from Lundholm Gymnasium is 12 p.m. on ESPN3 for Pink Day (Breast Cancer Awareness).
