Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week: Sarah Williams and Nick Guadarrama

DURHAM, N.H. -- Sarah Williams (Dover, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire women's track & field team and Nick Guadarrama (Newington, Conn.) of the UNH men's basketball team were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on Monday, Jan. 31.
Sarah broke the school record in the weight throw at the John Thomas Terrier Classic that was held at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center on Jan. 28.
The senior broke the UNH record with a throw of 59-feet, 1.50 inches and placed fourth out of 31 competitors. UNH's previous benchmark of 58-8 was set by Ashlee Lathrop in 2010. Sarah is now the UNH record holder in two events; she set the benchmark in the outdoor shot put in 2021. Â

Sarah also recorded a 14th-place finish (28 entrants) in the shot put at the John Thomas Terrier Classic with a throw of 40-5.
Two days later (Jan. 30) at the Maine Open Invitational, Sarah continued her outstanding season with victories in both the weight throw (57-5.5) and shot put (40-5.5).

The UNH women's track & field team is scheduled to return to action Feb. 4-5 at the New England Championships, which will be held at Northeastern University's Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center (Roxbury, Mass.).
Nick became the 34th player in program history to score 1,000 career points during his 22-point performance Jan. 28 against Stony Brook at Lundholm Gymnasium.
The senior forwarrd entered the game with 981 points and reached the 1,000-point milestone on a layup with 23 seconds remaining in the second half. He capped the game scoring with a three-point play with 14 seconds on the clock to increase his career total to 1,003 points and climb to No. 32 on the program's all-time scoring list.
Nick finished that game shooting 9 of 15 from the floor (60.0%), including 2-for-4 on 3-pointers, and went 2-for-3 at the foul line. His other stats included six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
In three games last week, Nick averaged 17.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 32.7 minutes.

The UNH men's basketball team is scheduled to return to action Feb. 2 (7 p.m.) at home vs. Hartford. The Wildcats then play Feb. 5 at UMBC and Feb. 7 at Stony Brook.
