Tasmin and Tamera Cookman Named to NFHCA All-Region Team

GENEVA, N.Y. – Tasmin Cookman (Woking, England), a freshman forward on the University of New Hampshire field hockey team, was named to the 2022 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Northeast Region First Team on Tuesday. Twin sister Tamera Cookman (Woking, England) was a Second Team honoree.
This is the second consecutive year multiple Wildcats were named to the NFHCA Northeast Region Team.
Tasmin Cookman was the 2022 America East Rookie of the Year and the only freshman named to the America East All-Conference First Team; she was also named to the All-Rookie Team. Her other conference accolades included two-time Offensive Player of the Week and three-time Rookie of the Week.
Tasmin is ranked No. 9 nationally in points per game (2.15), No. 11 in goals per game (0.80) and No. 27 in assists per game (0.55). On the America East leaderboard, she is No. 2 in points, points per game, goals and goals per game; she is also No. 5 in both assists and assists per game.
Tasmin was UNH's leader in goals (16), game-winning goals (three), assists (11), points (43), shots (63) and shots on goal (36). Her 43 points tied for No. 6 on the program's all-time list of single-season superlatives and the most ever by a UNH freshman.
She recorded a point in 14 of 20 games with a trio of four-game point streaks, the last of which was also a four-game goal streak. She finished with four multiple-goal games and three multiple-assist games.
Tasmin played 1,134 of a possible 1,253 minutes (90.5%) to rank third on the team – second among field players.
Tamera was also an America East All-Rookie Team and selected to the All-Conference Second Team. She ranked fourth on the team in goals (six) as well as third in both assists (six) and points (18); she was also second in shots (52) and third in shots on goal (28). Tamera ranks fourth on the team in minutes at 1,122 (89.5% of total minutes).
On the America East leaderboard, she is 20th in points per game (0.90), 14th in assists and tied for 19th in goals.
The freshman midfielder recorded the second-highest single-game point total in America East this season with an eight-point effort (three goals, two assists) against Merrimack. Overall, she tallied a point in 7 of 18 games with a three-game point streak that included scoring a goal in back-to-back games.
Tamera was named both Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week on Oct. 18.
Each of the five NFHCA regions consists of 16 student-athletes on the First Team and up to 16 on a Second Team. The NFHCA Regional Players of the Year will be announced Nov. 30, followed by the All-America Teams on Dec. 13 and the National Player of the Year on Dec. 15.
New Hampshire finished the 2022 season with 10 wins and a trip to the America East semifinals.
