Ten Wildcat Teams Receive a Perfect Score of 100 Percent
INDIANAPOLIS – The University of New Hampshire athletic department earned an NCAA Graduation Success Rate score of 96 percent, including 10 teams with a perfect mark of 100, in the most recent data that was released Tuesday. UNH's mark bested the 95 percent from each of the past two years and is higher than the national average of 90 percent.
"I am incredibly proud of our Wildcat student-athletes who continue to succeed in the classroom as well as on the fields of play," UNH director of athletics Allison Rich said. "Our coaches recruit outstanding student-athletes who are excellent representatives of the University of New Hampshire and understand and take full advantage of the value of a great education in the classroom and beyond."
UNH is the America East conference leader among the 10 member institutions with its mark of 96 percent and the Wildcats also recorded the second-highest Federal Graduation Rate (78 percent).
New Hampshire was the conference leader in the 10 sports that received a perfect mark of 100; they are women's basketball, women's cross country/track & field, field hockey, gymnastics, women's ice hockey, lacrosse, men's skiing, women's skiing, women's soccer and volleyball.
Five other Wildcat teams recorded a score of 90 or higher with men's soccer (96) followed by men's ice hockey (95), football (94), swimming & diving (91) and men's cross country and track & field (90).
Overall, 14 of 16 UNH teams recorded a GSR higher than the sport's national average. UNH football's mark of 94 percent marked a difference of +16 from the FCS national average of 78. Women's cross country/track & field was +9 of the national average (91) and men's soccer was +8 of its national average (88).
This year's overall GSR is the fourth consecutive year UNH recorded a mark of 95 percent or higher and eighth consecutive year at 90 or higher; the Wildcats recorded a 95 last year and in 2020, 96 in 2019, 93 in 2018, 92 in 2017, 91 in 2016, and 90 in 2015.
The GSR indicates the percentage of scholarship student-athletes earning a degree within six years; these numbers reflect graduation numbers among student-athletes who entered college in fall 2015. The NCAA developed the GSR to more accurately assess the academic success of student-athletes. Unlike the federal graduation rate, the GSR takes transfer students into account.
New Hampshire's outstanding GSR reflects the high academic performance of its student-athletes. UNH has received the America East Walter Harrison Academic Cup, which acknowledges the highest overall grade-point-average, five of the past seven years including the 2021-22 academic year.
