ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Junior Bilal Kamal (London, England) scored the game-winning goal as the No. 12 University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated Michigan, 1-0, at the U-M Soccer Complex on Friday evening in the first-ever meeting between the programs.
The Wildcats improve to 5-0-0 on the season, while the Wolverines fall to 2-2-1.
UNH has outscored its opponents this season by a 7-1 margin with four shutouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Wildcats took the first shot on goal of the game in the 11th minute when graduate student Linus Fallberg (Jonkoping, Sweden) sent a free kick to the right post where graduate student Victor Menudier (Limoges, France) had a header saved by Michigan goalkeeper Hayden Evans.
- Kamal then fired the ball to the upper right corner of the net from eight yards out to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute (38:28).
- UNH outshot Michigan 6-2 in the first half, while the Wildcats posted two shots on goal and the UNH defense prevented the Wolverines from taking a shot on net.
- In the 56th minute, senior Chris Pinkham (Concord, N.H.) blasted a shot from 22 yards out but Evans was able to make the save to keep the score at 1-0.
- Junior goalkeeper Jassem Koleilat (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) made back-to-back saves when Austin Swiech fired a shot towards the bottom left side of the goal, but Koleilat made the diving save and then prevented a follow up attempt by Evan Rasmussen from going to the back of the net in the 69th minute.
- With less than four minutes remaining in the second half, Koleilat made a huge save on a shot by Rasmussen to keep the Wolverines off the scoreboard as he was able to knock the ball over the net to keep it from going to the upper left corner.
- The Wildcat defense held strong earning the team's fourth shutout of the season for the 1-0 final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- UNH outshot Michigan, 11-10, while the Wildcats took five shots on goal and the Wolverines posted three on net.
- Michigan attempted eight corner kicks, while the Wildcats took seven.
- Koleilat made three saves for his fourth shutout of the season and moved to 5-0-0, while Evans recorded four saves for the Wolverines.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The goal by Kamal was his first of the season and his third career game winner. He has seven goals and nine assists for 23 career points.
