Five Wildcats Earn First Team All-Northeast Region Honors

The Wildcats had the most first team selections of any program in the region.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Five members of the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team have been named to the 2021 United Soccer Coaches All-Northeast Region First Team. The Wildcats had the most first team selections of any program in the region.
Sophomore midfielder Yannick Bright (Milan, Italy), junior goalkeeper Jassem Koleilat (Dubai, United Arab Emirates), junior midfielder Rory O'Driscoll (Minneapolis, Minn.), graduate student back Adam Savill (Manchester, England) and senior forward Tola Showunmi (Enfield, England) earned the honor. This is the second straight season that O'Driscoll has been named to the first team, while this is the first time Bright, Koleilat, Savill and Showunmi have earned All-Region accolades.
Bright was just recently named one of semifinalists for the MAC Hermann Trophy, which is awarded annually to the nation's top college soccer player. He was named the 2021 America East Midfielder of the Year and earned First Team All-Conference accolades. He started in all 21 games this season with three assists and three points. Bright has started in all 31 games over the last two seasons with one goal and five assists for seven points.
Koleilat was named to the America East All-Conference Second Team this season. He started in every game with a record of 17-2-2. His goals against average of 0.483 ranks second nationally, while his .808 save percentage is seventh and his eight shutouts are 12th.
O'Driscoll was selected to the America East All-Conference First Team for the second straight season. He posted seven goals and two assists for 16 points. He was second on the team in goals and was fourth in points. O'Driscoll was tied for first on the team and 22nd nationally with four game-winning goals. Last season he was named the America East Midfielder of the Year. O'Driscoll has 13 goals and five assists for 31 career points.
Savill was also recently announced as a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy. He was named the 2021 America East Defender of the Year. He also earned First Team America East All-Conference and All-Academic Team honors. Savill played in 19 games with 19 starts this season as a leader of a defense that leads the nation with a 0.466 team goals against average. He posted three assists with three points on the season.
Showunmi was named the 2021 America East Striker of the Year and was also selected to the America East All-Conference First Team. He led the team with 10 goals and 23 points, while he was tied for first with four game-winning goals. He also had three assists. Nationally, Showumni is tied for 22nd for game-winning goals and 26th for total goals.
UNH concluded its historic 2021 season with a record of 17-2-2 (7-0-1 America East). The Wildcats set program records for wins (17) and winning percentage (.857). The previous record for wins was 15 (1994 and 2019), while the previous best for winning percentage was .850 (2020). This season, the Wildcats advanced to the Round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history, falling at No. 1 seed Oregon State, 1-0. UNH earned the No. 16 seed and received a first-round bye in the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season and defeated North Carolina, 4-1, in the second round at Wildcat Stadium.
UNH earned its highest national ranking in the United Soccer Coaches Poll at No. 4 on Oct. 12, 2021. UNH went undefeated overall in the regular season for the second straight time with a 15-0-2 record. The Wildcats won the America East Regular Season Championship for the third consecutive season with a 7-0-1 mark.
The Wildcats outscored their opposition this season, 47-10, as their plus 37 goal differential is second in the country. UNH currently leads the nation with a .466 team goals against average. The Wildcats' 47 goals are ranked ninth in the country and their .857 winning percentage is sixth.
