'Cats drop 61-54 home decision to Bryant on Saturday

Sophia Widmeyer recorded a team-high 14 points in the losing effort for the Wildcats
DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team fell on Saturday to Bryant by a 61-54 score from Lundholm Gymnasium in non-conference play.
The Wildcats drop to 3-4 overall, while the Bulldogs improve to 2-7 overall on the young season.
Senior guard Sophia Widmeyer (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) led the way for the Wildcats offensively with a team-high 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting.
Graduate student guard Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) chipped in with 10 points, while junior forward Ivy Gogolin (Hopkinton, N.H.) tallied six points (3-for-5 FG), seven rebounds and two steals on the afternoon for UNH. Bella Stuart (Clifton Park, N.Y.) also added seven points and three steals in the loss.
The Wildcats pulled to within three points late in the fourth stanza at 54-51 with 1:18, but couldn't make up any more ground.
New Hampshire owned a eight point lead late in the first quarter as they shot 7-for-14 in the opening quarter, but the 'Cats trailed Bryant at halftime by a 36-31 score.
UNH returns to action on Wednesday, December 8 against Holy Cross. Game time from Lundholm Gymnasium is 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
