'Cats fall to UAlbany in AE semifinals, 3-0

Kate Bilyeu, Ari Pola and Abby Sullivan played in their final collegiate match for the Wildcats tonight
BALTIMORE, Md. – The No. 3 seeded University of New Hampshire volleyball team was defeated by No. 2 seed UAlbany, 3-0 in the America East semifinals on Friday night at Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena on the campus of UMBC. The set scores were 21-25, 13-25 and 17-25.
The Wildcats fall to 16-12 overall ending their season, while the Great Danes improve to 14-14 on the season and advance to the America East Championship Game against UMBC on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
Sophomore Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo.) led the Wildcats' offense with eight kills, while sophomore middle blocker Kelly Kaufmann (Raleigh, N.C.) added seven kills with a .222 hitting percentage.
Senior middle blocker Abby Sullivan (Methuen, Mass.) notched seven kills with a .333 hitting percentage in her final collegiate match for the 'Cats, along with seniors Kate Bilyeu (Omaha, Neb.) and Ari Pola (Auckland, New Zealand). Pola tallied five kills in the losing effort with a .500 hitting percentage.
Sullivan was the lone Wildcat selected to the America East All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
Junior setter Wren Macaulay (Lake Orion, Mich.) recorded 29 assists running the Wildcats' offensive attack, while sophomore libero Mia Pagliarini (Springboro, Ohio) amassed 11 digs in another strong defensive effort.
