UNH improves to 4-0-0 in the conference.

VESTAL, N.Y. – Graduate student Paul Mayer (Strasbourg, France) posted two goals and one assist for five points as the No. 7 nationally-ranked University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated Binghamton, 4-1, on Saturday evening at Bearcats Sports Complex in America East action.

The Wildcats improve to a perfect 12-0-0 (4-0-0 AE), while the Bearcats fall to 7-3-1 (2-1-0 AE). UNH has outscored the opposition 30-5 so far this season.

UNH is one of just four teams around the nation that have perfect records. The other three are No. 1 Georgetown (10-0-0), No. 2 Washington (10-0-0) and No. 6 Tulsa (9-0-0).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Mayer scored the first goal of the contest in the 26th minute when he sent a header that hit the right post and went to the back of the net off a pass by junior Bilal Kamal (London, England).
UNH then increased the lead to 2-0 in the 47th minute when graduate student Linus Fallberg (Jonkoping, Sweden) blasted a one-timer from 16 yards out to the upper right corner of the goal. Graduate student Victor Menudier (Limoges, France) posted an assist on the goal.
Shortly after, Mayer scored his second goal of the game to give the Wildcats a 3-0 advantage when he fired a shot to the lower left side of the net off a pass from Menudier.
The Bearscats cut the UNH lead to 3-1 in the 82nd minute on a goal by Oliver Svalander.
But with just over a minute remaining in the second half, sophomore Eli Goldman (Minneapolis, Minn.) sent a one-timer from six yards out to the lower left corner of the goal off a pass from Mayer for the 4-1 final score.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

UNH outshot Binghamton 15-6 with eight shots on goal, while the Bearcats took three shots on goal.
