Murdock Named America East Fall Scholar-Athlete

Shannon Murdock adds another honor to her career.
BOSTON - University of New Hampshire fifth-year Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.) has been named the America East Fall Scholar-Athlete for women's cross country, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Murdock, a five-time America East Champion and a member of the America East All-Academic Team, helped lead the Wildcats to their seventh America East women's cross country championship in Albany, N.Y. this past November. In the conference championship meet, Murdock had her second career top-5 finish, finishing third with a time of 16:59.09. For her finish, Murdock was recognized as part of the 2019 All-Conference First Team.

A four-time America East Commissioner's Honor Roll member, Murdock finished her undergraduate degree with a 3.72 cumulative GPA and currently holds a 4.0 GPA as a graduate student in nursing. Murdock was also named the women's cross country Elite-18 winner after the America East Championship meet, awarded to the medalist with the highest GPA.

Along with the Fall Scholar-Athlete honors, Murdock now enters the field of potential America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year candidates, comprised of all Fall, Winter, and Spring scholar-athlete award winners. Scholar-Athletes of the Year are announced in July.
