Three Wildcats were selected as USATFCCCA All-Academic Athletes; both men’s and women’s teams honored with team award.
NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named its All-Academic teams and athletes this past Monday, with both University of New Hampshire men's and women's track & field teams making the list of All-Academic teams, and three individual athletes being named as All-Academic individuals.
The three individuals who were honored as USTFCCCA All-Academic athletes were Eric Brogioli (Milford, Mass.), Danielle Gajewski (Danville, N.H.) and Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.). Individuals qualified for the honor by compiling a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, and were either ranked nationally in the top 96 athletes for their indoor event, or qualified for the NCAA Division I Championship preliminary meet in outdoor.
Brogioli, a senior accounting major, compiled a 3.85 GPA and was a key part of UNH's success in the indoor and outdoor track seasons; Brogioli was a top-five finished at both indoor and outdoor conference meet in the weight/hammer throw, and his personal best in the hammer throw at IC4A/ECAC outdoors qualified him for the NCAA Division I preliminary meet in the event. Brogioli is also an inductee of Chi Alpha Sigma and a member of the America East Commissioner's honor roll.
Gajewski, a graduate student in the exercise science program posted a 3.59 GPA, while also winning her sixth and seventh career America East championship with the 2019 indoor distance-medley relay team and individually in the outdoor 800 meter run. Gajewski traveled to Jacksonville, Florida for this year's 800m run in the NCAA Division I Championship first round.
Murdock, a senior nursing major finished the year with a 3.68 GPA while capturing her fifth career America East gold medal, winning as a part of the indoor DMR team. Murdock started the indoor season ranked at the top of the nation in the indoor mile, and competed at the NCAA Division I Championship first round meet in the outdoor 1500m.
Along with the individual honors, both the men's and women's teams were selected as All-Academic teams by the association; the women's team posted a cumulative GPA of 3.5, putting them in the top 60 of 366 total honored teams. The men's team made the list by posting a team GPA of 3.19. Teams were made eligible for the honor for posting a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
