DURHAM, N.H. – After a grueling non-conference schedule, the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team prepares for America East Conference play as the Wildcats head to Lowell, Massachusetts to face UMass Lowell on Thursday, January 2 at 7 P.M. on ESPN+.
Both teams finish non-conference play with the same record against similar opponents, each with wins over Bryant and Central Connecticut, and losses to UMass, Dartmouth, and Merrimack.
The Wildcats return home for their first game since December 8, playing their conference home opener on Sunday, January 5, hosting the Hartford Hawks in Lundholm Gymnasium at 1 P.M. LAST TIME OUT:
- The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team wrapped up its non-conference segment of the 2019-2020 schedule, with a loss to #25 Princeton College on Sunday afternoon, 77-37.
- Junior guard Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) led the way for the Wildcats shooting 50% from the floor (4-8 FG) adding in four free throws for a team-high 12 points, along with six rebounds and a steal. The six rebounds ties her career high set last season at Stony Brook.
- Senior forward Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) followed that up with her seventh straight double-digit scoring performance, tallying 11 points, six boards, and added a steal and assist to her scoreline. Storey also had two blocks in the contest, her second straight game blocking a pair of shots.
- Senior guard Caroline Soucy (Beverly, Mass.) led the team in rebounds (7) and steals (2) on the afternoon. She also tallied four points and one assist, on no turnovers.
ABOUT UMASS LOWELL
- The River Hawks (Lowell, Mass.) hold a similar non-conference record to the Wildcats at 4-9.
- At home this season, UML holds a 2-4 record, against UNH's 1-6 road record.
- The Wildcats have held the recent advantage against the River Hawks, unbeaten in their last five. UMass Lowell's lone win in the series (1-12) came in the 2014-15 season in Lowell.
- UML averaged 53.1 points per game in the non-conference schedule; UNH averaged 59.4.
