Dunbar, McManus and Wenczkowski each scored a goal.

DURHAM, N.H. – Seniors Nicole Dunbar, (Coto de Caza, Calif.), Meghara McManus, (Milton, Mass.) and Taylor Wenczkowski (Rochester, N.H.) each scored a goal on Sunday afternoon as the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team defeated Holy Cross, 3-0, at the Whittemore Center. The Wildcats improve to 5-4-2 (4-3-1 HEA), while the Crusaders fall to 0-8-3 (0-5-0 HEA).

Dunbar's goal was her fourth of the season, McManus' was her team leading sixth of the year, while Wenczkowski's put in her third of the year. Dunbar's goal came early in the second period to take a 1-0 lead, while Wenczkowski and McManus each put in insurance goals in the third.

The Wildcats return home next Friday, November 8 for a 6 P.M. matchup with Hockey East foe Vermont, then another home game against Vermont on Saturday November 9 at 3 P.M. For tickets, visit UNHWildcats.com or call (603) 862-4000.

GAME RECAP

Both teams finished the first period scoreless, the Wildcats dominated with a shots advantage of 15-2 but they couldn't find the back of the net. Both teams also had two chances on the power play but neither could take advantage.
UNH scored the first goal of the game at 1:46 into the second period, when Wenczowski received a long pass from senior Tori Howran (Bancroft, Ontario), who then ripped a shot off Brenon's left pad to open up a rebound forDunbar who then sent a one timer to the back of the net.
The Wildcats outshot Holy Cross 18-8 in the second period, while the Wildcats went 0-2 on the power play.
Midway through the third period on a 4v4, freshman Tamara Thiérus (Saint-Jerome, Quebec) stole the puck and gave it to McManus as she held it to gain space near the left faceoff dot, then shot it through Brenon's five-hole for the Wildcats' second goal of the game at 10:32 of the third.
Then towards the end of the third period, the Wildcats cashed in on a power play as Dunbar connected to sophomore Lauren Martin (Cambridge, Ontario) near the right side of the net, and then Martin gave a pass cross crease to Wenckowski as she put the puck in the back of the net to for the 3-0 final score.
Sophomore Ava Boutilier (Charlotteown, Prince Edward Island) recorded her third shutout of the season, and the fourth of her career.
UNH finished the game with a huge shot advantage of 45-15, but Jada Brenon kept Holy Cross in the game with a total of 41 saves.
