VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

DURHAM, N.H. – Kayla Sliz (Ajax, Ontario) and Bailey Fanikos (Lynnfield, Mass.) scored third-quarter goals to give the University of New Hampshire field hockey team a 2-1 lead, but UMass Lowell tied the game with 27 seconds remaining in regulation and, after two scoreless overtimes, prevailed in the shootout to record a 3-2 victory Friday night at Memorial Field.

UNH is now 7-7 overall and 1-2 in America East. UMass Lowell is 6-7, 1-2.

UNH goalkeeper Jemma Woods (Frimley, England) made three of her five saves in the third quarter; she did not have to make a save in the 20 minutes of overtime. UML counterpart Eva Berkhout stopped four shots, including two in the second OT session.

1^st QUARTER

The first quarter started slowly with the both defenses dominating the opening 15 minutes. UMass Lowell recorded one shot and UNH had the only save of the quarter.

2^nd QUARTER

The River Hawks took a 1-0 lead at 24:25 when Sophie Kroeze scored from the middle of the circle off a rebound.
UNH had a scoring opportunity with a corner at 24:51 by Bloem van den Brekel (Eindhoven, Netherlands), but the shot went wide left of the goal.

3^rd QUARTER

The Wildcats opened the third quarter with a goal from Sliz chipping the ball past the last defender at the top of the circle and putting the ball inside the left post at 35:49.
UNH took a 2-1 the lead at 43:18 when Fanikos carried the ball into the left side of the circle, dribbled around the goalie and sent the ball into the bottom left of the cage.

4^th QUARTER

UMass Lowell pulled its goalie with 1:50 remaining.
Sofie Knook scored for the River Hawks at 59:33 off of a corner, tying the game to force overtime.

OVERTIME

UNH recorded a 2-0 shot advantage in both of the scoreless 10-minute overtime sessions.

SHOOTOUT

UNH led 1-0 through two rounds of the best-of-5 series on a tally by Sliz.
UMass Lowell leveled the score, 1-1, in the fourth round.
With the score tied 1-1 at the conclusion of the best-of-5 series, the game advanced to round-by-round.
The River Hawks' Lindsey Kilpatrick scored, but Sliz extended the game with her second shootout tally.
Neither team scored in the seventh round, then Leah Cardarelli put the ball in the cage and the 'Cats did not convert to end the game by a score of 3-2 in the shootout and, coincidentally, game score of 3-2
