PROVO, Utah – John Ciani, Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning at the University of New Hampshire, has been named Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association.
This honor is the highest given in the strength and conditioning coaching profession. UNH Director of Strength and Conditioning Paul Chapman, who has already earned the title Master Strength and Conditioning Coach, will present coach Ciani with the blue MSCC Jacket at the May 10 ceremony in Fort Worth.
"I have been working with John for 18 years, going back to when he was an assistant for me at the University of North Dakota," Chapman said. "We came to UNH together in July 2002. Since that time, John has grown into one of the best strength and conditioning coaches in the country. UNH is extremely fortunate to have John on staff as a master coach. Very few programs in the country have a Master Strength Coach – UNH has two."
There are five criteria to receive this title of distinction. The are: hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree; be a currently practicing, full-time strength and conditioning coach on the collegiate or professional level; hold current membership in the CSCCa; hold the CSCCa Certification; and have a minimum 12 years experience as a full-time strength and conditioning coach on the collegiate and/or professional level.
This title reflects a commitment to UNH's student-athletes and athletic program, as well as the strength and conditioning profession.
