Pogue's Double-Double Leads 'Cats Over Albany

DURHAM, N.H. - Senior center Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team to a 74-68 win over league-leading Albany on Saturday afternoon in Lundholm Gymnasium.
The triumph snapped UNH's three-game losing streak, brought an end to Albany's eight-game winning streak and helped tighten up the league standings.
The Wildcats improved to 15-8 overall and 6-4 in America East. The Great Danes fell to 19-4 and 8-2.
UNH moved into a tie for third place with Binghamton and Hartford in the league standings as a result of other games Saturday. Albany and Maine are tied for first place.
Senior forward Kat Fogarty (Westminster, Mass.) had 16 points and five rebounds for UNH and senior guard Brittni Lai (Irvington, N.Y.) had 14 points and five assists.

The Wildcats have a quick turnaround to Monday's 7 p.m. home game against Vermont.
The Wildcats play at Maine on Thursday night at 7 and are at UMBC on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS
Pogue's double-double was her first of the season. She made seven of her 14 field goals and six of her nine foul shots.
The America East Player of the Year last season, Pogue hit the 20-point mark for the fifth time this season and second time in the last four games. The 12 rebounds put her in double figures in that category for the first time this season.
Pogue made all three of her shots from the field and two of her three foul shots in a big second period for the Wildcats. They outscored Albany in the period to grab a 41-34 lead at the half.
Fogarty and Lai helped UNH hold the lead in the fourth period. Fogarty had six points in the period and Lai had four.
Albany pulled to within 60-59 with six minutes to play. Lai made a foul line jumper and Fogarty added a putback and another basket in close to give UNH some breathing room at 66-59.
Fogarty, Lai, Pogue, and Healy each made a pair of foul shots in the last 40 seconds to close it out.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats made three of their five three-point shots in the first period on the way to their 41-34 lead at the half.
The Great Danes came back to take the lead at 51-50 with 2:24 left in the third period.
Fogarty made five straight foul shot and UNH grabbed the lead back and never trailed again.
The Wildcats made 27 of their 38 foul shots in the physical game. Albany was 11-for-15 from the foul line.
