Smith, Patlovich Record Double-Doubles in Finale at Michigan Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Kennedi Smith (The Woodlands, Texas) recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 kills and 13 digs, but the University of New Hampshire volleyball team was defeated 3-1 by Butler University in Saturday afternoon's evening match of the Michigan Invitational Tournament. UNH was defeated 3-0 by 19th-ranked Michigan earlier in the day.
In, UNH's first match Saturday afternoon, the host Wolverines won by set scores of 25-19, 25-13, 25-18. In their last match of the weekend, the Wildcats captured the first set, 25-13, before Butler stormed back to win the next three sets 25-17, 25-17, 25-16.
Emma Patlovich (Lake Bluff, Ill.), the reigning America East Rookie of the Week, also recorded a double-double against Butler with 24 assists and a career-high 12 digs; it was Patlovich's first career double-double.
Junior middle blocker and captain Gabri Olhava was selected to the All-Tournament Team.
New Hampshire is now 1-6 overall.

- The Wildcats roared out to a 5-0 lead on five consecutive kills by Smith.
- Michigan responded with a 4-0 run, but the 'Cats did not relinquish the lead until the hosts tied the score at 17.
- The Wolverines won the next two points to take their first lead of the match, 19-17, as part of a set-ending 8-2 run.
SET 2
- UNH also took an early lead, 3-1, in the second set.
- Michigan reeled off four consecutive points to take a 5-3 lead, and then won 10 of 11 points to build a 15-4 advantage; overall that was a 14-1 spurt.
- The Wolverines kept the 'Cats at arm's length the rest of the set.
SET 3
- New Hampshire trailed by just one, 5-4, through nine points of the third set.
- UM won four straight points and UNH never got closer than three points the rest of the way.

- As a team, UNH recorded a .308 hitting percentage while holding Butler to .000 in the first set.
- UNH fell behind 3-0 and trailed 5-2 before winning five consecutive points to take a 7-5 lead the Wildcats would not relinquish.
- New Hampshire gradually pulled away – 10-6, 15-8, 20-12 – before closing out the set at 25-13.
SET 2
- The Wildcats won two of the first three points, but the Bulldogs went on a 5-0 spurt and the 'Cats did not pull even the rest of the second set.
- Butler led 14-10 and won four consecutive points to put the set out of reach.
SET 3
- The set was level four times (at 3, 5, 6, 7) before the designated home team won four straight points as part of a 7-2 run to go in front 14-9.
- UNH closed within 14-12, but Butler responded with a 6-0 run to extend the margin to 20-14.
- The Bulldogs captured the third set, 25-17, to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
SET 4
- The teams traded the first six points of the fourth set before Butler inched away to leads of 8-5 and 11-6 before UNH called time out.
- The Wildcats trimmed the deficit to 11-9, but the Bulldogs went on a 4-0 spurt en route to a 20-13 lead.
