Curtis, Cashin Lead Way To 4-1 Win at UConn

'Cats Will Be No. 6 Seed in Hockey East Tournament
STORRS, Conn. – Jonna Curtis (Elk River, Minn.) recorded three points and Hilary Cashin (Fredericton, New Brunswick) stopped 29 of 30 shots to lead the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team to Saturday afternoon's 4-1 victory against the University of Connecticut at Freitas Ice Forum.
UNH improves to 13-17-2 overall and 11-11-2 in Hockey East by completing the weekend sweep of UConn. The Wildcats are the No. 6 seed in the league tournament that will start with next weekend's best-of-three quarterfinal series at the site of the higher seed. Results of the remaining games this weekend will determine UNH's opponent – Boston University, University of Vermont or Providence College.
UConn finishes the regular season at 14-16-4, 9-13-2. The Huskies, who would have climbed past the 'Cats with a win, are the No. 7 seed.
Curtis scored the game's first and last goals and set up the game-winning tally for her three points. Julia Fedeski (Algonquin Highlands, Ontario) also tallied multiple points with two assists.

GAME RECAP
- UConn generated an 11-10 shot advantage in the scoreless first period.
- The Huskies went on their third power play of the game at 10:26 of the second period, but Curtis netted her second shorthanded goal of the month to give New Hampshire a 1-0 lead at 11:46.
- UConn's Briana Colangelo tied the score, 1-1, at 14:44.
- UNH regained the lead 35 seconds later, however, at 15:19 when Carlee Toews (Grand Priarie, Alberta) netted her sixth goal of the season.
- The Wildcats extended the advantage to 3-1 at 6:18 of the final frame on a goal by Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.), her third of the season.
- Curtis potted an unassisted empty-net goal with 1:36 remaining to secure the victory.
