ORONO, Maine – Junior center Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio) had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team to a 65-57 win over Maine on Wednesday night at Cross Insurance Center.

The Wildcats clinched a share of their first league title since the 1984-85 season with the win.

They improved to 22-4 overall and 12-1 in America East. They grabbed at least a share of the regular season title when Albany lost at UMBC, 63-60, in a game that ended shortly after theirs.

The UNH victory snapped Maine's 21-game win streak in home games against league teams.

Junior guard Brittni Lai (Irvington, N.Y.) had 14 points and junior guard Olivia Healy (Reading, Mass.) had 13 points with seven rebounds and five assists.

NEXT AT HOME

The Wildcats play UMass Lowell at home in Lundholm Gymnasium on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. on ESPN3 for Senior Night.

Their next game is at Hartford on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS

UNH shared what was then the Seaboard Conference regular season title with Northeastern in 1984-85.

The Wildcats completed a season sweep of the Black Bears with the win. They also beat Maine, 50-44, at home on Jan. 19. UNH last swept the Back Bears during the 2012-13 season.

Maine was 12-0 at home last season and came into this game with a 9-1 mark at home. The only Black Bears loss at home was to No. 3 Mississippi State, 87-43, on Nov. 12.

Maine had not lost a a home game to an America East team in more than two years. Albany beat the Black Bears, 49-43 on Jan. 3, 2015 for their last home loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Pogue had eight points to lead the 'Cats to an 18-13 lead after one period.

The Wildcats outscored Maine 19-11 in the second period to extend their lead to 37-24 at the half. Pogue had 13 points and three rebounds at the break. Lai had seven points. Senior guard Kristen Anderson (Greene, Maine) had four rebounds and four assists in the opening half.

Healy put in a layup off a nice Anderson pass at the buzzer to end the third period to leave the 'Cats up 53-44 with one quarter to go. Healy had eight points in the period.

Maine pulled to within 59-55 with 2:50 left in the game.

Lai drove for a basket and Healy made a couple of foul shots and the Wildcats pulled away.
