Knight's 4 TD Passes, Defense Lead 'Cats Over Towson

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior quarterback Trevor Knight (Amherst, N.H.) passed for four touchdowns in the second quarter to break the game open and lead No. 18 New Hampshire to a 40-17 triumph over Towson University in front of a Wildcat Stadium crowd of 10,522 on Saturday afternoon.
Knight completed 19 of 30 passes for 197 yards and the career-high four scores for the game. Redshirt freshman Nick Lorden (Milford, N.H.) caught a career-high two scoring passes of 6 and 4 yards.
Redshirt freshman DeUnte Chatman (Houston, Texas) had a career high 22 carries for a career high 187 yards and career high two scores. The rushing yards were the high for a Wildcat this season.
Sophomore Brandon Gallagher (Raynham, Mass.) rushed 12 times for 104 yards.
Junior Neil O'Connor (Leominster, Mass.) caught a 5-yard TD pass for his ninth score of the season. Junior Kieran Presley (Amherst, Mass.) had the other touchdown catch of 14 yards.
The UNH defense held Towson to 279 yards of offense, a low for the season, and allowed the Tigers to convert only one of 11 third down chances into a first down. Sophomore safety Rick Ellison (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) led the defense with a career high 12 tackles.
The Wildcats rushed for a season-high total of 299 yards and had a season-high 508 total yards of offense.
The Wildcats improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association and bounced back nicely from a loss at Stony Brook last week.
Towson fell to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the league.

- The Wildcats travel to Virginia for their next two games.
- They play at No. 1 James Madison, the defending FCS champion, next Saturday at 6 p.m.
- James Madison improved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the CAA with a 46-14 win at William & Mary on Saturday.
- The Wildcats play at William & Mary on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m.
- UNH plays it last regular season home contest, a "Salute to Service" game, on Saturday, Nov. 11 against Elon at 2 p.m.
- The Elon game will include a commemorative bobblehead giveaway.

- Chatman opened the scoring with a 26-yard TD run with 7:45 left in the period.
- Towson answered with an Aidan O'Neill 30-yard field goal with 38 seconds left in the period.
- The Wildcats led 7-3 after one.
2ND QUARTER
- Knight passed for four touchdowns in the period, two of them to Lorden
- The TD passes were of 14, 6, 5 and 4 yards.
- Presley and O'Connor had the other two TD catches.
- Knight completed 12 of his 17 passes in the period for 117 yards and the four scores.
- Chatman carried 14 times for 120 yards in the first half.
- The Wildcats led 33-3 at the break.
- UNH had 294 yards of offense in the first half.
- The Wildcat defense held Towson to 130 yards of offense in the first half.
3RD QUARTER
- Chatman broke a run 23 yards for his second score of the day.
- Through three periods, UNH led 40-3.
- The Wildcats had 447 yards of total offense to Towson's 224 through three periods.
- Chatman had his 22 carries for 187 yards in three quarters.
4TH QUARTER
- Towson defensive end Kaniya Anderson scored on a 92-yard fumble return.
- Sam Gallahan scored on an 18-yard pass from Ryan Stover.
'CAT NIPS
- The Wildcats last had two players rush for over 100 yards in the same game last year against Lehigh in the NCAA playoffs.
- Dalton Crossan went for 184 and Trevon Bryant for 113 in that game.
- Chatman had other 100-yard plus game for the Wildcats this season with six carries for 107 yards against Holy Cross.
- Senior Max Pedinoff (Newtown, Pa.) punted four times with an average of 42.2 yards per kick.
- His first punt went out of bounds at the Towson 2-yard line and eventually led to UNH's first TD.
- UNH converted 10 of 19 third down plays into first downs.

- Lorden had three catches for 34 yards and the two TDs.

- Sophomore safety Pop Lacey (Reading, Pa.), sophomore running back Evan Gray (Centreville, Va.) and senior running backs Donald Goodrich (York, Maine) and Jerickson Fedrick (Salem, N.H.) were among the Wildcats who missed the game because of injury.
